NASA announced the successful detection of an ambipolar electric field surrounding Earth, as fundamental as Earth’s gravity and magnetic fields, which may have shaped our planet’s evolution.
This was hypothetized some 60 years ago.
This field causes part of our athmosphere to escape from Earth’s gravity, causing what is named “polar wind”.
This electrical field is ten times stronger than gravity.
This ambipolar field may have continuously shaped the evolution of our athmosphere, and this findings are applicable to any other planet with an athmosphere.
