The Neutrino is the most elusive and weird particle from the Standard Model. It is everywhere in the universe. It moves at light speed, it does not interact with ordinary matter, so it can go through any physical substance, including our physical body, without being detected – the invisible entity. It was postulated in 1930 by Wolfgang Pauli before being discovered in the 1950’s. Its main source are the stars like our Sun, which generate billions of them every second through the fusion process.
It is still as of today one of the biggest mystery in modern Particle Physics, it has a mass but still unknown where the Standard Model predicted no mass for the neutrino. A new study suggests that the lightest particles in the Universe may play a critical role in the formation of heavy elements.
Nucleosynthesis – the generation of elements, or the transformation of the Big Bang elementary particles (H, He, Li) is mainly the result of the fusion process inside the core of the main sequence stars like our Sun. But it stops short at the iron element (Fe). Above this threshold, it requires the immense energy only a supernova star can provide. This study brings a new genesis process for the heavy elements, using the quantum identity of the neutrinos (entanglement) as an intermediate process. Another brick in the puzzle of the generation of physical matter.
At the time where the early teachings of Theosophy were published, the sun’s fusion process was unknown, like most of modern Physics. An article from the Collected Writings of H.P.B. – Is the Sun a Cooling Mass (Vol. V, p. 155), quoting Sir John Hershel giving out a theory approximating an occult truth : “These wonderful objects are not ‘solar inhabitants’, but simply the reservoirs of solar vital energy, the vital electricity that feeds the whole system in which it lives, and breathes, and has its being.”
