Unrepentant souls just disappear. The Vatican quickly\u00a0clarified that the article was \u201cthe fruit of his reconstruction\u201d and not \u201ca\u00a0faithful transcription of the Holy Father\u2019s words\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In the article, Scalfari wrote asked the Pope where \u201cbad souls\u201d go. The\u00a0Pope, he said, replied: \u201cThey are not punished. Those who repent obtain\u00a0God\u2019s forgiveness and take their place among the ranks of those who\u00a0contemplate him, but those who do not repent and cannot be forgiven\u00a0disappear.
