The Big Bounce Theory propounded by a\u00a0number of physicists state that prior to the Big Bang the universe\u00a0underwent contraction due to pressure until it reached a point that it\u00a0expanded again. They say that the universe may have been undergoing\u00a0continuous contraction and expansion. Paul J. Steinhardt of Princeton\u00a0University, one of the proponents of the Cyclic Theory, says that this\u00a0theory attempts to resolve the \u201chomogeneity, isotropy, and flatness of the\u00a0universe,\u201d among other things observed.<\/p>\n<p>This view is similar to the Hindu view about the periodic manifestation\u00a0and dissolution <b>(<\/b>manvantara and pralaya<b>) <\/b>of the universe, a view also\u00a0adopted by the Secret Doctrine of H. P.
